POSITION SUMMARY:

The Mass Market Fundraising Specialist supports the Mass Market Fundraising team with creative development, production, reporting, and execution of digital fundraising communications and campaigns and some additional support for offline fundraising. They ensure key mass market audience segments receive high quality, accurate appeals, cultivations, and messaging.

 

The specialist closely integrates and collaborates on projects with other teams and external agencies. They gather content for fundraising communications, document processes, and ensure campaign deliverables and approvals are met. They also provide quick and efficient communication across teams during rapid response fundraising moments. They work to increase the effectiveness of fundraising strategies and create an engaging experience for donors and key constituents as part of the larger donor journey.

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Mass Market Team Support and Coordination

  • Support the execution of digital campaigns (email, SMS, social), key offline campaigns (direct mail, canvassing, telemarketing), and other fundraising projects. Ensure deadlines are met at each stage of production.
  • Support the daily communication and coordination with external agencies and internal team, especially during emergency fundraising moments and year-end fundraising campaigns.
  • Execute cross-channel welcome series, acknowledgments, and automated communication streams.
  • Maintain mass market fundraising campaign plan and calendar, testing roadmap, and project roadmaps for planning and sharing across teams.
  • Support fundraising analytics and reporting.

Creative & Strategy Development

  • Support in-house digital needs through creative and technical development, writing, and editing of digital donor cultivations, 360 marketing campaigns, and special appeals.
  • Conduct research and develop relationships with communications and global health colleagues to gather the best content for fundraising materials.
  • Support the editing, proofing, and fact-checking of fundraising copy, art, and live proofs for accuracy, typos, and styling conflicts. Provide feedback to team, writers, and agencies.
  • Participate in fundraising brainstorms and conduct peer research to develop ideas, inform new strategies, and generate marketing opportunities.

Campaign Management and Production

  • Support administration of digital fundraising program through database management and reporting.
  • Initiate and manage creative requests to internal and external teams.
  • Maintain digital archive of strategies, creative, notes, and important documents.
  • Maintain supply of Project HOPE materials/premiums for donor stewardship and manage the shipping process for key donor outreach.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/S in Marketing, Communications, or relevant field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience or understanding of marketing concepts and strategy, graphic design, editing, copywriting, proofreading, and production.
  • 2-3 years of experience in direct marketing, digital fundraising, or related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience managing short and long-term projects from planning to completion in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational and time management skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks – especially during emergency fundraising moments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – both written and oral.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, within a team environment, and with diverse internal constituencies in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with MS Office and other relevant software.
  • Must be available when needed on nights and weekends during emergency fundraising moments.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with the following:
    • Managing multiple vendors and/or agencies.
    • Graphic design and copywriting.
    • HTML/CSS principles, email production and Adobe Creative Suite.
    • Working with fundraising CRMs such as Luminate and Raisers Edge NXT.
    • Email and other digital and offline communications.
    • Project management tools like Asana and Microsoft Share Point.
  • Affinity for global health and international development.

Work environment:

  • Typical office environment with exposure to a minimal noise level.
  • Emergency deployments may be in resource-deprived environments with austere living conditions.
  • Travel for extended periods may be by air and/or other modes of transportation.
  • While international travel is not a regular part of every job, programmatic needs may require it intermittently.
  • Project HOPE employees may be required to travel or work in countries where working conditions are classified as “hardship.”
