Job Description

House of Spices (HOS) is a deeply rooted brand within the food industry, leading the specialty food and ingredient category for over 50 years. Fast-forward from its start as a homegrown family business, House of Spices has become a middle-market wholesale/manufacturer which includes multiple distribution networks across the country. Although the business has and continues to expand rapidly, the brand is still family-owned and home-based out of the NYC metro area. We are looking for talented individuals to join our ACARE culture!

The Category Manager is responsible for sales optimization of a particular group of products within House of Spices India Inc (HOS). This role is directly involved with driving pricing, product development, marketing, and promotions of certain products to make them highly visible, accessible, and appealing to HOS customers.

Essential Functions

  • Develop overall strategy for HOS product categories and research new product options in the category to drive sales and achieve target.
  • Partner with sales team to provide category insights and proposals by analyzing marketing, customer data and monitoring relevant market conditions.
  • Manage pricing through analysis of sales trends, competitors, buying habits and planograms of products to promote sales opportunity.
  • Provide expertise in HOS visual merchandising, pricing, management, and sales of a specified group of products.
  • Lead the assigned categories in terms of sales, forecast, marketing needs, competitive landscape analysis, market share, product quality, pricing strategy etc.
  • Identify Growth Opportunities for HOS - Products, Range, Brands, Strategies, Changing Consumer Taste/Preference, Buying Patterns, etc
  • Work with other functional teams - Sales, Marketing Team, New Product Development Team, Supply Chain & Purchase Team, Pricing & Forecast teams to optimize HOS sales.
  • Conduct Regular HOS Market Visits and support sales team.
  • Vendor Management for categories under your supervision with the assistance for sales and marketing
  • Make & Coordinate HOS Promotional Calendar
  • Responsible for understanding market potential to build sales and analyze buying forecast for HOS.
  • Constantly review HOS item list for range requirements, stock aging, and item discontinuation.
  • Provide sales support for all administrative tasks related to Category and Sales requirements.
  • Travel is a must

Required Education And Experience

  • 3-5 years in sales within the Food/Beverage/Manufacturing/Related environment.
  • Understanding of the sales process and dynamics.
  • A commitment to excellent customer service.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superb interpersonal skills, including the ability to quickly build rapport with both customers and suppliers.
  • Experience using computers for a variety of tasks.
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Able to work comfortably in a fast-paced environment.
  • Hindi Speak Preferred
  • Data analytics
